GHM Academy enables Museums and Organizations to rejuvenate online their educational lessons.
Montreal, Quebec (Feb. 3rd, 2021) MPO Educational Enterprises launched the newly upgraded version of GHM Academy to include educational lessons produced by different museums and organizations who have become GHM content partners. Each GHM partner can create GHM lessons from their existing material which breaths new life into them, giving partners a new online distribution method for their lessons and collections.
On GHM Academy (a learning management system, LMS) anyone can create a free account. This bilingual educational resource gives users a unique learning experience with lessons that can include an interactive map, 3D virtual reality, videos, educational games, tours, quizzes and many other interactive elements to increase learning and retention. GHM partners offer their material on GHM as free lessons or paid content. By creating paid content, GHM partners access to a new revenue stream, which is needed as museums are currently unable to show their collections to the public. GHM is a digital solution for museums and organizations to display their material online and reach more people, especially students.
Partners include the Rick Hansen Foundation, which promotes accessibility and inclusion through educational lessons available to all students for free. The Canadian Museum of Nature is also producing free lessons, focusing on Canada's natural history through virtual tour lessons of their permanent exhibitions. Je Me Souviens, a free educational program developed in collaboration with some Quebec military museums, offers free turnkey lessons with activities. Les Promenades Fantomes gives an intriguing step back into the past with their lessons. Blacbiblio, who develops African Canadian educational resources, has put an engaging pilot lesson on GHM to teach about African Canadians. Pointe-à-Callière is an upcoming GHM content partner who will focus on Montreal's history.
"GHM is really easy to work with! We've been delighted about how easy it is to build lessons" declares Marina Smyth, Program Manager at Je Me Souviens.
"GHM Academy has now taken the leap in innovation to seamlessly integrate our 360' tour technology with our online educational assets...So you can tour the Canadian Museum of Nature online, from anywhere, and learn the facts" says John Swettenham, Chief Marketing Officer.
GHM Academy, a 3-in-1 program, provides hundreds of lessons on many different subjects for all different ages. The GHM Bookstore includes existing GHM history lessons which follow provincial curriculums (currently for Quebec, Manitoba, and now Ontario). The GHM Creator allows creation of your own lessons and GHM Classroom enables teachers to assign lessons, then track and monitor student progress.
GHM Academy is produced by MPO Educational Enterprises, founded by Monica Ortiz and Martin Plante. GHM Academy is an evolution of GeoHistory Map, and is now focusing on increasing educational content to help reduce the cost of education for parents.
